What qualifications do I need to become a skipper?

To list on AhoySkipper, you typically need professional certifications such as RYA/MCA Yachtmaster, ASA Instructor, or equivalent qualifications depending on your region. You'll be asked to upload proof of certifications during registration.

How much can I earn as a skipper?

Earnings vary based on your experience, qualifications, and destination. Top skippers on our platform earn between $200-$500 per day, with potential for tips and longer bookings. You set your own daily rate and availability.

How does the booking and payment process work?

Clients book your services through our platform. Once a booking is confirmed, we securely hold the payment. After trip completion, funds are transferred to your account, minus our service fee (15%). Payments are processed within 24 hours of trip completion.

What happens if a booking gets canceled?

We have a fair cancellation policy that protects both skippers and clients. For cancellations made more than 30 days before, you receive 50% of the booking fee. For cancellations within 14 days, you receive 100% of the booking fee unless you choose to reschedule.

Do I need my own insurance?

Yes, all skippers must have professional liability insurance. We recommend coverage of at least $1 million. You'll need to provide proof of insurance during registration. We've partnered with marine insurance providers to offer discounted rates for our skippers.
